It’s the start of my 2 week holiday from work. Oh the perks of being a teacher!

As of yesterday I started painting like a crazy person. It feels freakin great. I’ve been working on a new piece for my cousin’s wedding gift – I will have photos up once I’ve given it to her.

I have also been asked to work on a commission – The Flamingo, for a friend of mine. This makes me very happy as it turns out I love painting flamingoes. I’ve spent at least 3 hours on this piece. That is 3 hours of painting, a couple of hours getting the right paper and colours and getting the guts up to paint on a large blank sheet of beautiful Arches watercolour paper.

And now I’ve done it. What do you think?

If you would like me to paint a bird for you too just let me know through my contact page. I would love to start toucans and as mentioned in my last post lorikeets as well. Maybe even a Dodo to pay homage to my Mauritian heritage.

I’ve got lots more paintings in store for the next few days so keep posted to see what I’m up to.

Here's a little feathery detail.
